Understanding colour harmony
Great palettes aren't random — they follow relationships on the colour wheel. Analogous colours sit side by side for a calm, cohesive feel. Complementary colours sit opposite for bold contrast. Triadic uses three evenly spaced hues for balance, and Monochrome explores shades of a single hue. This tool builds palettes using these rules so the results always look intentional.
Frequently asked questions
How do I generate a new palette?
Press the spacebar or tap 'Generate palette'. Each press creates a fresh set of colours based on the harmony rule you chose.
How do I keep a colour I like?
Tap the lock icon on any colour. Locked colours stay put while the rest regenerate, so you can build a palette one colour at a time.
What do the harmony options mean?
They control how the colours relate: Analogous (neighbours on the wheel), Complementary (opposites), Triadic (evenly spaced) and Monochrome (one hue, different shades). Auto mixes them up.
How do I use the palette in my project?
Click any colour to copy its HEX code, or use 'Copy CSS' to grab all five as CSS custom properties ready to paste into your stylesheet.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Palettes are generated entirely in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
